Honestly I feel like every ship and character is in the air when it comes to the tog series. I mean SJ Maas talked about how much she loved Nehemia (a huge char), then Nehemia died in book 2. Rowan, Manon, and Aedion (who have become such integral chars) were only introduced in book 3 (which is the midpoint of the series).

When COM was coming out Sj Maas posted quite a bit of chaolaena things and hinted in a few interviews about them being endgame as well. And then as of right now they aren’t together.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that SJ Maas tends to go with the flow when writing and switches between ships when the story asks of it. The truth is we all have no idea what’s going to be endgame until the last book is published and to be honest, I don’t think SJ Maas knows as well. (If she knew where tog was going, Rowan, Manon, Aedion would have been introduced, or at least mentioned in the first two books- especially Aedion.)

In my opinion, there’s plenty of hope laid out in qos for all the ships, so don’t count out Doraelin just yet :)
